Industry
There are large and medium-sized industrial enterprises, producing the following products in Alagirskiy District.
FSUE “AZS” - resistors;
DSUE “Alagir Wood-Processing Plant” - furniture, sliced veneer;
MUE “Alagir Building Materials Plant” - building brick;
Alagir Bread-Making Plant - bread, bakery products;
JSC “Alagir” - dairy products;
LLC “Iriston-Alagir” - mineral water, soft drinks;
LLC “AST” – bank protecting reinforced concrete structures;
MUE “AZhREU” - plastic windows, doors;
DSUE Alagir Forestry Enterprise - forest protection, sanitary felling, trimming, rough finish of furniture;
LLC “DDD” - alcohol;
LLC “Donstroy”, LLC “Hadstroy”, LLC “Strojservis” - production of rubble, LLC “AST” - production of crushed stone, reinforced concrete structures and bank protection structures;
DSUE “Sadon Lead-Zinc Plant”, Sadon State Mining Company, Sadon Mine Group of “Electrozinc” - mining ore.
In 2008, they produced 68 million rubles worth goods of manufacturing industries.

Agricultural Sector
At the beginning of 2009, the area of the agricultural land amounted to 12,437 ha, including arable land – 8,396 ha, perennials - 447 ha, hayfields – 643 ha, pastures – 2,951 ha.
Several investment projects in the field of animal husbandry are being implemented.
Agricultural Production Cooperative “Gory Ossetii” (The Mountains of Ossetia) completed reconstruction of a cattle breeding farm with the design capacity of 750 head. More than 90 heads of high-producing cows were imported.
Dairy Plant JSC “Alagir” completed reconstruction of the milk processing facilities. The latest technological equipment installed here is able to process 24 tons of milk per day.
LLC “Agricultural Holding” Master Prime. Beryoska” commissioned a high-tech livestock complex in the village of Khataldon. 331 heads (with the offspring this number reaches 600 heads) of high-yield cows of French breed “Montbilyard” were imported to the complex. It is planned to expand the dairy complex to 1,200 cows. In addition, it is planned to construct a milk processing plant with a shop for the production of VIP-cheese “Comté”. (Currently “Ossetian” and “Cheddar” cheeses are produced). Besides, it is planned to build a residential village for the workers of the Holding. The total investment volume of the project will amount to 1 billion rubles. The integrated complex is fully provided with its own raw materials (more than 6 tons of milk per day).

Investment Potential
It is planned to create Alagir Mountain and Recreational Complex “Mamison” in the territory of the district.
The project envisages construction of the complex facilities (cable cars and ski slopes, hotels, utility services, engineering infrastructure and the road). The total cost of the project is 15,278 million Rubles, including 3,263.3 million rubles from the federal and republican budgets under the Federal Target Program “The South of Russia (2008-2012)” for the creation of the engineering infrastructure and construction of the road.
In 2008, the company “BaselCement” commissioned a modern mobile crushing and screening plant with the capacity of 1.35 million tons of sand and gravel per year.
LLC “UMMC-Holding” plans construction of a cement plant with the capacity of 1.5 million tons of cement per year in Alagirskiy district, which will allow satisfying the demand for cement in the Republic and other regions of the North Caucasus. The total investment volume is 10.5 billion rubles.
In the territory of Alagirskiy district, JSC “RusHydro” constructs Zaramagskie hydroelectric power stations with the capacity of 352 mW. Commissioning of the Main Hydroelectric Power Station with the capacity of 10 mW took place in 2009, GES-1 with the capacity of 342 mW in 2012. In addition, the company started construction of Fiagdonskaya Small Hydropower Station with the capacity of 5.1 mW.
Promising areas for investors in the territory of Alagirskiy district are development of hydropower sector, production of inert construction materials, development of animal husbandry and processing of agricultural products.

As of 01/01/2009, the number of unemployed in Alagirskiy District registered with the Employment Service was 677 persons.
The average monthly salary as of 01/01/2009 was 9,479.8 rubles (in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania – 9,073.3 rubles).
